Agricultural and automobile museum
At the gateway to the Périgord Noir, come and discover a huge collection of machines and tools restored by Benoît Jouclar, a man with a passion for authenticity, and his team of volunteers. They have succeeded in bringing back to life a genuine heritage that bears witness to the traditions of everyday life. Whether you're a fan of farming, motoring or the everyday objects of our "old-timers", or just curious, this is the site for you.
L'Échapétoire in Vézac
Unique and atypical! Laze along the Dordogne with GPS coordinates of the best bathing spots, take on the Châteaux via breathtaking itineraries and travel back in time to discover the Périgord Noir aboard vehicles full of history!
Based in Vézac, the Échapétoire team awaits you in the heart of the Golden Triangle of the Dordogne Valley!
Padirac chasm
A vision in the heart of the Earth.
What do the bowels of the earth look like?
As you descend, the atmosphere changes. The light fades, replaced by a gentle humidity and a stable temperature of 13° all year round. These characteristics open the door to the development of a singular vegetation. This abyss is nothing other than an immense, vertical and vertiginous doorway, which invites us to pass in a few minutes from the outside world to the underground world.
It is the gateway to a world of a thousand surprises and discoveries, a world that is no doubt still hiding just as many mysteries...
Caves of the Roc de Cazelle
Numerous scenes reconstructing the life of our ancestors plunge you chronologically from prehistory, to the Middle Ages, to 1966 when a couple of farmers had invested a monolithic house entirely carved in the rock (large collection of objects and old tools, farm animals). The traditional habitat has been reconstituted, faithful to the habits and local history of the Périgord.
The entire route is equipped with educational signposting to provide a coherent and chronological reading of the occupation of the cliff through the ages.
Caving in Vézac
In the land of man, caves are an integral part of our heritage. As witnesses of our history, they reveal marvellous landscapes in the galleries. The underground world is also an astonishing ecosystem, with its own fauna, flora and climate. Finally, it is a playground for adventure that can satisfy the most athletic.
The state-qualified instructors will share their knowledge and experience with you in the greatest safety. The equipment provided (progression equipment, lighting, wetsuit) complies with current standards and will allow you to fully enjoy the outing.
Via Ferrata in Vézac
The Via Ferrata in Marqueyssac is a 200-metre long acrobatic cliffside course set on a cliffside about 100 metres above the river. Both hiking and climbing, the Via Ferrata is a cliffside course. A few minutes from the campsite, the Via Ferrata des Jardins de Marqueyssac is completely self-sufficient thanks to a continuous lifeline.
Accessible to all, sportsmen or not, from 8 years old and over 1m30.
Aquarium du Périgord Noir
On 4000m2 discover 66 basins and more than 3 million litres of water with more than 6000 fish: from the carp of our ponds to the catfish of our rivers, to the impressive sturgeon of our estuaries, freshwater fish will no longer hold any secrets for you.
Since 2014 it is through the Alligator Park that you discover the world of reptiles where Alligators, Caimans, Iguanas and Reptiles will surprise you on more than 2000m2.
Bournat Park
On the riverbank, the tourist site is quite different from the others: no troglodytic caves or castles, but it is indeed historical heritage that is at stake! The unusual park plunges you into the South-West of 120 years ago, its beautiful nature, its customs, its trades. Visit the Dordogne valley and enjoy the open air, but also learn and pass on the knowledge to the youngest, who will certainly have fun.
